Product Overview

The workhorse chrome-moly flange for steam and moderate-temperature service

ASTM A182 F11 is a 1.25% chromium – 0.5% molybdenum low-alloy steel produced in three strength classes. Class 1 (415 MPa tensile) has the lowest carbon and best weldability, Class 2 (485 MPa) is the most commonly specified grade for B16.5 flanges, and Class 3 (515 MPa) provides the highest strength. Chromium improves oxidation and sulphidation resistance while molybdenum lifts creep strength for service up to about 595°C.

Our F11 flanges are forged from certified steel, annealed or normalized and tempered at a minimum of 620°C per ASTM A182, then CNC machined to ASME B16.5, B16.47, MSS SP-44 or EN 1092-1. Bores are matched to the connecting A335 P11 pipe, faces are serrated for spiral-wound gaskets, and every piece is marked with grade, class, size and heat number. IBR certification, EN 10204 3.1 / 3.2 documents and TPI are available.

  • Class 1, 2 & 3 to suit design strength
  • Good creep strength up to 595°C
  • Excellent weldability with proper PWHT
  • IBR approved supply for boiler piping
  • Ready stock of WNRF, SORF & BLRF
  • Matches A335 P11 & A234 WP11 systems

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about A182 F11 flanges

All three are 1.25Cr-0.5Mo steels. Class 1 has 0.05–0.15% carbon and 415 MPa minimum tensile strength; Classes 2 and 3 allow 0.10–0.20% carbon and require 485 MPa and 515 MPa respectively. Class 2 is the grade most commonly used for ASME B16.5 flanges.

F22 contains 2.00–2.50% Cr and 0.87–1.13% Mo, giving higher creep strength at temperatures above about 540°C. F11 is preferred at moderate temperatures where its lower cost and easier welding are an advantage.

Yes. We supply IBR-certified A182 F11 flanges for boiler piping along with EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificates, and third-party inspection can be arranged on request.

F11 is a P-No. 4 material. A preheat of about 150°C is common, and post-weld heat treatment around 680–730°C is typically applied per ASME B31.1 / B31.3, depending on wall thickness.
