ASTM A213 T11 Alloy Steel Seamless Tubes

Tubewell Steel & Engg. Co. manufactures, stocks and supplies ASTM A213 T11 tubes, a 1¼Cr-½Mo-Si ferritic alloy steel for elevated-temperature service. T11 combines good creep strength, oxidation resistance and easy weldability, which makes it one of the most widely used grades for superheaters, reheaters and heat exchangers.

Product Overview

Why A213 T11 is the workhorse grade for boiler and superheater tubes

ASTM A213 T11 is a seamless ferritic alloy steel tube with 1.00–1.50% chromium, 0.44–0.65% molybdenum and 0.50–1.00% silicon. Chromium and the higher silicon improve resistance to steam-side oxidation and fire-side scaling, while molybdenum raises creep and rupture strength. As a result, T11 tubes perform reliably at metal temperatures up to about 595°C (1100°F) in boilers and heat exchangers.

Our T11 tubes are hot finished or cold drawn and are full or isothermal annealed, or normalized and tempered at a minimum of 650°C (1200°F), as required by A213. Each tube carries its heat number, grade and size. Lots ship with EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificates, and IBR Form III-A and third-party inspection by BV, TÜV, SGS or Lloyd's are available.

  • Good creep strength up to about 595°C

  • Steam-side oxidation resistance
  • IBR approved boiler tube supply
  • Ready stock in popular OD & BWG sizes
  • Cut-to-length, U-bent & bevelled ends

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about A213 T11 tubes

T11 is a 1.25% Cr – 0.5% Mo alloy steel with 0.05–0.15% carbon, 0.30–0.60% manganese and 0.50–1.00% silicon. Phosphorus and sulphur are each limited to 0.025% max.

T11 has slightly more chromium (1.00–1.50% vs 0.80–1.25%) and a higher silicon range (0.50–1.00% vs 0.50% max), which give it better oxidation resistance. Their mechanical properties are identical: 415 MPa tensile, 205 MPa yield and 163 HBW max hardness.

The chemistry is the same. A213 T11 covers tubes ordered by exact OD and wall thickness for boilers and heat exchangers, while A335 P11 covers pipes ordered by NPS and schedule for process and steam piping.

Yes. We supply IBR approved A213 T11 tubes with Form III-A and EN 10204 3.1 mill certificates. Inspection by an IBR-approved authority or a TPI agency of your choice can be arranged.
